This journey exploring both inland and coastal Barbagia commences in Orosei, a charming medieval town from which the bay on the eastern coast of Sardinia takes its name. Villasimius, much loved seaside holiday destination of South East Sardinia, is the largest town within the Protected Marine Area of Capo Carbonara. The most important sites in this quiet town are the Old Fortress and the Archaeological Museum, this latter housing the relics of the past civilisations who once resided in the area. Also within the territory of Villasimius, we find the Sette Fratelli mountain range, named after its seven jagged peaks, the average height of which is 800 meters....

It is a well articulated route that which from Sassari leads to Olbia, along the legendary highway 131, passing through the fertile land of central northern Sardinia's Logudoro; an area of volcanic origin. Today, Logudoro, which over the last 60 years had witnessed a significant demographic decline, is now enjoying a period of gradual and constant expansion.
